Less AI Slop. More You.

GoStudio.ai is an official Phota Labs partner: GoStudio headshots are powered by Phota Labs’ identity models, which learn one specific person from that person’s own uploaded photos rather than generating a convincing stranger.

Why we partnered with Phota Labs.

Open your feed and scroll for a minute

Open your feed and scroll for a minute. A lot of what you see was made by a machine.

AI images. AI videos. Endless, fast, free, and mostly forgettable. The same shine, the same poses, the same faces you have seen a thousand times. There is a word for it now. AI Slop.

The strange part is that most of it is not even bad. Plenty of it looks great. There is just nobody in it.

You have scrolled past them. A person who does not exist, talking to camera, handing out advice. Perfect light, perfect skin, nobody home. Nothing there to connect to.

And the more of it there is, the less we trust any of it. Every made-up face makes a real one harder to believe.

Now think about what is not in your feed

Somewhere there is a woman in a small town who has done one thing for thirty years and does it better than almost anyone alive. A teacher whose way of explaining things would help a hundred thousand children. A farmer, a shop owner, a weaver, sitting on a story worth more than everything you scrolled past this morning.

Almost none of it is online. Not because it is not worth sharing, and not because the internet is shut to them any more.

We have machines that can make any picture, any video, any voice, in seconds. The best storytelling tools ever built, cheap enough for anyone.

And we are mostly using them to make more people who do not exist.

So we built the opposite — your AI Studio

GoStudio started with a rejection.

Kanika Bhatt was applying for jobs and her resume kept not getting shortlisted. She found out why later, from someone in HR. Before anyone properly reads a resume, they open your LinkedIn profile. Hers had no good headshot. That was enough.

Think about how small that is. Not her experience. Not her work. A photograph.

She built the first version of GoStudio at the end of 2024. She was one of those untold stories, and she happened to be able to do something about it. Most people never get that chance.

It never opened all the way

Think about what YouTube did. And the phone camera. And then social media. Before them, telling your story to the world meant a camera crew, a studio, or a TV channel. Almost nobody had those. Then everyone got a camera in their pocket and a place to post. One of the best things that ever happened to the internet.

But it never opened all the way. Early on it was mostly in English, for people who already had a head start. And two things stayed in the way for everyone else.

Looking good on camera costs money. And a lot of people are not comfortable in front of one.

Kanika hit the first. Plenty of people I have met are stuck on the second — a business they built, a skill they are great at, a story worth hearing, and they post nothing, because they cannot stand how they come across on camera. They are not shy about the idea. They are shy about the lens.

That is the part AI can fix. Someone who has never liked a photo or a video of themselves can now show up well, on their own terms, and tell their story.

But only if the person in the picture is really them. Nobody wants to look at a random face on the internet. People want to know who you are, where you are from, what you make, what you believe in.

Take the real person out and all you have made is more slop. Put them at the center and you have made a way to be seen — for people who never would have been.

That is why identity is not a feature for us. It is our mission.

Why we partnered with Phota Labs

Phota Labs was working on the same problem from the other end.

Cecilia Zhang and Zach Xia were AI researchers at Adobe. They left to work on one thing: teaching an AI what one specific person actually looks like. Andreessen Horowitz led their funding.

Then I read a line on their site. It was the thing we had been trying to say for two years.

Today’s models know the world, not you.

Phota Labs

They got there through research. We got there from customers asking for the same face and the same body they had uploaded.

GoStudio is an official Phota Labs partner. Our headshots are powered by Phota Labs.

What we are actually trying to do

People ask whether an AI photo is fake. Fair question. It is the first one I would ask.

But look at what a good photograph already is. Lights placed to flatter you. Makeup. A lens that suits your face. Someone telling you where to look. Then hours of retouching. None of that is you as you walked in the door. All of it is you, at your best.

Nobody calls that fake. We call it a good photo.

AI does the same job without the studio, the crew, or the bill. Not a new kind of lie — the same thing photography always did, finally within reach of people who could never afford it.

The photo is made by AI. The person is not. Neither is the story. A photo was never worth trusting because of the camera. It was worth trusting because someone real stands behind it. That is the part we keep, and the part a generic model throws away.

Come and say hi

So that is the line. Here is what we want to do with it.

We are looking for partners who want the same thing we do. More photos, more videos, more voices, more stories — all of them belonging to someone real.

There are a lot of stories out there that nobody has heard yet. That is the work.

We are a team of eight in Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India, trying to get some of them heard.

You, your products, your story.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, come and say hi.
